Frances Louise Sealock
The second daughter of Stanley and Fanny, Louise quickly became the "helper" of the family. With Mollie often in a cast, or hospitalied due to her illness, Louise was the one Fanny relied on to help with the housework. It became apparent along the way that she'd rather be outside; seemed she was more than happy to mow the lawn; drive the tractor or truck, and be just a bit the "tomboy."
She met Doyle at church--and the story of their unusual wedding is legendary. At the suggestion of the pastor, he performed the ceremony between Sunday School and worship service. They sat down and listened to their first sermon as Mr. & Mrs. Hankins!
After the birth of their two children she was sorely tested by the subsequent illness and death of both of them. Her faith in God and indominitable spirit, along with Doyle's support and encouragement, enabled Louise to continue thinking of others.
Eventually, she would become the adopted mother of another girl; losing her in a tragic auto accident.
Louise energy and ability enabled her to do stints as telephone operator, grocery clerk, church secretary, "girl Friday" at a clothing store, secretary for a manufacturing plant, and various other odd jobs. More than twenty-five years as a Mary Kay consultant allowed her to work at home and have time to give attention to the extended family. All the while she was being a meticulous house keeper, helping Doyle with his many projects, teaching Sunday School, and taking care of everyone who appeared to have a need.
She became the unofficial keeper of the family records. Her tireless endeavors have been instrumental in keeping family reunions alive--along with prodding others of the extended family to participate. Doyle has often deferred to Louise's decisions by saying she is "the decider."
