Doyle Wayne Hankins

Doyle was raised in Seminole County--the older of two boys, and worked in his Dad's grocery store. He graduated from Varnum High School after being active in both baseball and basketball. He attended Seminole Junior College for a year, then played one season for the Seminole Oilers Baseball team. He was drafted into the Army February, 1953, during the Korean conflict. After basic at Fort Hood, Texas, he spent a year in Baumholder, Germany.

He went to work for Jones-Laughlin Supply in March, 1955 in Healdton, OK, and spent the next 31 plus years selling and repairing oil field equipment. He loved to fly; owned a plane for over 40 years, coached little league baseball, and bowled on a church team. He served as a deacon in seven churches in different towns where his job took him.

He was fascinated by "what makes things run" and well remembers his earliest lesson taught by his Dad. He tore his bicycle apart; couldn't recall how to put it back together, and had to do without it for a few days. That was the first of thousands of repair jobs.
