Eleanor Louise Wingo
Eleanor went to grade school at Fairview School near their home east of Shawnee. She remembers walking to school as a very young child She also recalls the fun times she had with Grandma Sealock when she got to spend the night there while Grandpa Sealock was on his job as night watchman at Shawnee Mill. Her uncle Stanley loved asking her name, to which she would reply, "Eleanor Blouise." His next question, "Isn't your name Wingo?" Her reply, "Heck no, that's papa's name!" When the family moved to California in June, 1941, she went to high school and graduated from Escondido High. After working a short time for the telephone company in Chula Vista, she went with her military husband to Georgia and Rapid City, South Dakota. She recalls the bitter cold, and walking through deep snow to the movies, then back home to the military base housing. After his discharge and back in California, she resumed her job at the telephone office.
She has always been active in church, also enjoyed watching auto races, music, and sight-seeing. In retirement she is grateful to be living close to her children.
