Carl Newton Wingo
Carl attended school in Earlsboro, OK; helped his Dad with farming duties and worked in the oil field. As a young man, he moved with his family to California and spent some time working in the shipyards in San Diego. For over 20 years, he was a partner with his brother Floyd in Wingo Brothers Texaco in Escondido. Carl was ordained as a deacon February 19, 1967 by Bethel Baptist Church, Escondido and served until their return to Oklahoma. He then served as deacon at Fairview Baptist Church east of Shawnee. His hobby was fishing and spending lots of time with his grandchildren. He purchased a sled and go cart and spent many hours pulling the sled with his tractor--giving the grand kids rides. He raised a garden and loved to share vegetables with family and neighbors. They had a travel trailer and enjoyed lots of travel time. He loved to tell stories and recall his younger days when his family lived close to Grandpa Dan and Grandma Anna Sealock. -Louise Hankins |
